ARGANS specializes in satellite-based Earth Observation, remote sensing services, and environmental modeling (e.g. atmospheric chemistry). ARGANS is involved in EU projects to support the environmental monitoring and development of upgraded Copernicus core services.

Dr. Pierre Sicard - Researcher, expert in air pollution impacts on forests and human health, is involved in national and EU funded projects as coordinator or Principal Investigator (e.g. FO3REST, MOTTLES). He is very active in communication: gave a speech at the UN forum for forests (2017); Deputy Coordinator of the RG 8.04 “Air Pollution & Climate Change” under the International Union of Forest Research Organizations; involved as UNECE Expert Panel on Clean Air in Cities and active in the EU Clean Air Forum; Member of the Editorial Board of journals (e.g. Environmental Research); Member of the scientific committee of meetings, > 60 papers, h-index of 27. He is also involved as Regional Expert Group on Climate in region Sud.

Ms. Fatimatou Coulibaly - Engineer, she is working on detection of urban trees by remote sensing at 50cm of resolution. She is expert in satellite images: acquisition, correction, classification, post-processing and GIS.

IRET gathers all CNR expertise about Plant-Environment interactions. IRET competences concern instrumentation, environmental monitoring, design and maintenance of Green Infrastructure, know-how on the air pollutant dry deposition over urban forests, assessment and monitoring of ecosystem services, as well as dissemination and contacts with stakeholders at national and international levels.

Dr. Elena Paoletti - Head of IRET-CNR Section of Florence, expert in air pollution and climate change impacts on forests. She is very active in communication e.g. in IUFRO, EFI, SISEF and she gave two speeches on forest and climate change at the UN forum for forests (2017 and 2019). Deputy Coordinator of the IUFRO RG 8.00.00 “Forest Environment”; Member of the IUFRO Management Committee and Board; Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of EFI; Editor for many journals e.g. Science of the Total Environment; > 250 ISI papers, h-index of 48.

Dr. Yasutomo Hoshika - Researcher at IRET-CNR. He has expertise in plant physiological ecology, especially pollution uptake modelling for urban trees. He is a deputy of IUFRO WP 8.04.02 “Genetic, biochemical and physiological processes”, member of IUFRO Task Force “Climate Change and Forest Health”, 70 ISI papers, h-index of 20.

ENEA, public agency, supports the national Authorities in the implementation of environmental legislation set by the EU and Italian national Agenda by: developing models for the evaluation of future environmental scenarios; modeling regional climate systems; designing innovative systems for the reduction of air emissions; and providing scientific and technical support to local Public Authorities to implement national integrated strategies.

Dr. Alessandra De Marco - IUFRO coordinator RG 8.01.00 “Air Pollution and Climate Change”, vice-chair of Working Group on Effects, Italian Head of Delegation to WGE, National Expert for NEC Directive implementation in Italy. She has experience on integrated assessment modelling for evaluating impacts of policies and measures to reduce air pollution and assessment of air pollution impacts on vegetation. She published > 100 ISI papers, h-index of 34.

Dr. Giacomo Pallante - Economics, law and institutions. His research activity focuses on the participatory approach and assessment of the socio-economic impacts of national and international energy and environmental policies. Elaboration of socio-economic indicators based on a life-cycle approach for the sustainability assessment of innovative technologies, products and services.

AIR-Climat is coordinating the Regional Expert Group on Climate in Region Sud (GREC-SUD), bridging science and policy to find solutions for environmental issues. AIR-Climat aims to centralize and share scientific knowledge on climate change, and associated effects, to policymakers and general public at local, regional and national scales. It accompanies the local authorities in the elaboration of their Climate Action Plan, organizes technical days dedicated to stakeholders and writes thematic policy briefs.

Dr. Antoine Nicault - Ccoordinator of AIR Climat, 25-year experience in forest ecology and paleoclimatology, and animator of the "regional group of experts on climate" (GREC-Sud). After years spended in research working in EU and international projects (e.g. Canadian Climate Change Consortium) he is now interested in bridging link between science and society in a climate change context.
